This is a horrible situation that has been going on for quite some time and I am new to Craig's List but hoping that by posting this maybe it will reach the right people who will want to take action.

Right near the Holbrook Road Elementary School in Centereach there is a sump. The sump is on Champlin, off Holbrook Road. There are so many starving cats and kittens in such horrendous shape.

At least three times a week there are dead cats in the road and many of them have been tiny newborn kittens.

Something has to be done about this area. Even if these cats could be trapped and humanely put to sleep, it would end their suffering. Some rescue groups were called but nothing has apparently been done to help these cats.

There is no food or water and cats crawl into the nearby garbage cans in search of food. It is a desperate situation. I am hoping anyone who has a heart that wants to help suffering kittens and cats will get in touch with a rescue organization that could help?

This just can't go on. It's heartbreaking.

If a Vet would want to humanely euthanize the ones that are in the worst shape, if nothing else could be done, I would donate money to that Vet or if a rescue group can save some of those poor suffering cats and they post where to send a donation to, I will help by sending a donation for their care.

But something must be done! Please I beg any of you reading this to contact whoever you can think of that might go out to that area to see for themselves and help these starving cats.

Long before they were on tv I called rescue Ink regarding a pet store that concerned me. THey got right on it, and investigated it, and got back to me with the results. There was no pay involved in this, and certainly no fame. THey were just guys looking to help the animals. I am glad that they are finally making some money at this, so they can afford to continue doing this work, saving the animals. What have you done for the animals lately? They deserve all the fame and money they can get. These guys are doing only good, and anyone who trashes them is out of their mind.

Replying to in rescue inks defense....I saw the video on newsday.com as well. I dont think I see things the same way as you. They were insistant on first giving the dogs back to the kids, HOW???? OR letting them participate in the adopition. OUCH - they are taken away and now they should help find them new homes...no no no. They are not in any condition to be worrying about dogs, they're going to need to put all their efforts into getting better themselves. ALSO, what if the foster homes they are in dont want a dog, or if the foster home has a dog that doesnt like other dogs....While the rescue ink guys are no doubt concerned about the kids they are using poor judgement in promising to give the dogs back. Its setting them up for more disappointment. While its showing their hearts, its reaffirming their lack of expirience, knowledge, and judgement in these type of situations. You cannot let your heart lead your head and cloud your judgement in these situation...that comes with expirience. I also have to say if rescue ink is what they claim to be, they owe the rescue group an appology for that attack (not the spca)...they responded to a call for help and stepped up to the plate just like rescue ink did.

LADY(837373) is an 8 yo spayed German Shepherd mix surrendered because theowner was moving where dogs are not allowed. Lady's owner told us that she is a wonderful dog, highly affectionate, loves dogs AND CATS but does not like the streets of the city. She was taken out for walks, though. Even though she is 8yrs old, she is very healthy for her age as her owner fed her rice and beef. She is a beautiful female, thin and elegant at only 40lbs. She is good on the leash, although, yes , she does prefer to be on the sofa than on the street but goes around the block, walking next to her caretaker. She is friendly, although stressed and does like sitting in your lap for petting. A very nice "NO CONCERN" companion dog who also deserves a SECOND CHANCE at a good loving home

CYRUS is a sweet, handsome brindle 1y old M hound/pit x who was saved from euthanasia from the NY City shelter. At the shelter he was a very scared & shy pup & was going to be put down because he was terrified ..Who knows what happened to him as a puppy to cause him to be sooo frightened of everything. He was sent to a trainer for 2.5 weeks and did very well with the resident dog (s) and now he has to leave because the trainer has committed to taking in another dog in need. We are in URGENT NEED of an ADOPTER/FOSTER IMMEDIATELY!!! He needs a special someone who can continue to rehabilitate him and let him come out of his shell slowly, but every day as he gets to know more people and is exposed to more things, he gets more and more confidence... Look at how SCARED HE IS... but he's EAGER to be a WHOLE DOG and because he's still young... he's got a good chance at being rehabilitated. We think it would be great if went to a home with other dogs that can help to give him doggie confidence and he's fine with cats!... but unfortunately, NO SMALL CHILDREN

Found on Sunday, November 1st near Great Neck Road, south of Oak Street (and the railroad trestle). Has been vet checked and being treated for common ear mites; fecal sample came back negative for parasites. Is in very good health and eating/drinking normally.

This ferret, if the owner does not inquire, will be adopted by me to be put with my other ferret, who lost it's cage mate recently. Is in quarantine for another week as a safety precaution.

Napoleon is a silly, affectionate mush. He has enough love to fill up the whole world. But, alas, he only needs one family or person to open arms and accept him. Napoleon's story is that he ended up in the pound due to a cruel rule that recently went into effect in New York City forcing tenants of city housing to give up their dogs over 30 lbs. Napoleon was such a family pet. According to his former owners, Napoleon LOVES CHILDREN, OTHER DOGS AND CATS! He is housebroken, responsive to commands and training and loves to GIVE KISSES! Sadly, due to space constraints, this lover of a dog ended up on the shelter Euthanasia list, despite all the "Alerts" the shelter sent out to rescues on Napoleon. ANTONIA is a 2 yo female Rotie mix brought to the shelter as a stray. She is a gorgeous but shy beauty. She is clearly stressed to be at the shelter. Antonia is good on the leash and seems to be housetrained. She met many dogs in the backyard, small and big, calm and barking and she did not display any aggression or fear. She really wanted to play with a little Lhasa Apso.

ANTONIA is quite submissive. She clearly looks for protection and leans very close to her caretaker, nudging her body. The various volunteers who handled her and the walkers are quite fond of her. So cruel were her owners - not only did they keep her in a cage for most of the time she was pregnant.... but they took away her precious impressionable youth...she was rarely socialized with other dogs during her first 2 years because she was kept pregnant. She only knew the dogs she was mated with and since she was forced to become a mother so young ... she instinctively became guarded and protective of her puppies and therefore is very defensive with other dogs. As a result Sandy is not good with most dogs.. she does seem to get along with submissive males... but ideally she would be best as an only dog in a suburban or country environment

However, Sandy is WONDERFUL WITH ALL HUMANS... She's a bit exhuberant and very excitable as all pits are but she is oh so LOVING and FULL OF KISSES for everyone that she meets. Sandy is still a puppy at 2 yrs old and she is very excitable and exhuberant as most pits are... She will need adequate exercise, discipline and obedience training and a STRONG HUMAN PACK LEADER -preferably someone with previous BULLY BREED EXPERIENCE. With the right conditioning and a structured exercise & discipline regime, SANDY can shape up to be a WONDERFUL LOYAL LOVING DOG !!! He's just a year old, fully black with a small white patch on his chest and a smaller white 'fig leaf.' Witchy green eyes - he is the perfect Witch's cat (and he is).

He started by saying they are the in your face animal rescue group. then Why did they get in the face of the group that is helping those poor animals from the horror house they where trapped in. They were called first and then they called ASPCA to help the animals Rescue stink knew they could not do it . It was the ASPCA that called a press conference to give the public who had already been beraged with news images from every channel on the case to give update on the case and the dogs . Joe Pansy and the goon squad burst in and started blasting the rescue group and tried to say they where doing this to hurt the children When it was only Rescue stink was making it about the kids ,Hey Joe It was thier mom who signed the dogs over to the aspca and its the ASPCA and Second Chance Rescue that are helping the dogs. Your being abusive to a fellow rescue and insinuating that they are doing what they are doing to hurt children is INSANE and not to mention your pushing around a older gentleman and posturing the way you did to a woman who has dedicated her life to really helping all animals you should be ashamed . Your Actions at that press conferance seemed more like sour grapes about not being able to exploit it on your show . More like you got mad that the ASPCA did not put you in the center of the press conferance that was supposed to inform about the dogs and what will happen to that monster who did the abuse instead you made it the Joe Pansy and Rescue stink show . I am glad a real rescue is helping and I hope that you guys start realizing who the bad guys really are and then maybe the people who have been doing real rescue not for publicity but to really help might take you guys serious. I see you also removed the alligator clip from your page. That would be another instace of you guys doing nothing and trying to take credit. It was Second chance who rescued , cared for , and rehomed that alligator you guys begged her to let you be part of it for your show . People need to know about all the animals you really have only taken the credit for helping when really you are just a bunch of Bullies looking for your five minutes of fame.

Just because your cat is spayed or neutered has no bearing on whether our not they should be let outside.

Outdoor cats diminish the food sources of native wildlife (owls, racoons, foxes, falcons) Outdoor cats have played a significant role in reducing the populations of these animals on Long Island in the past 25 years. I remember seeing numerous owls and hawks out on the island when I was a kid and seldom do today.

Outdoor cats are also more prone to diseases like feline distemper, rabies, and feline leukemia (just to name a few) and few owners vaccinate their pets often enough to fully protect them

Statistically, outdoor cats live an average of 3-4 years whereas indoor pets have an average lifespan of 12-16 years.

Indoor cats can be just as happy as their outdoor counterparts. Provided they receive proper diet, clean litter boxes, and the mentally stimulating environment (scratching posts, toys, etc.)

By keeping your cats indoors you, as a pet owner, can better gauge their overall health and happiness.
