If you are looking to change careers and you are going to look for LESSOIL to Train you We have no problem doing that BUT please do not expect that you will be doing so for TOP PAY . If you need entry level training, compensation begins at $400.00 per week for the first 90 days. If you have always worked in an office job or do not have tools or have never done any mechanical work it will be difficult to justify opening an entry level position to you. The entry level positions are mainly for those that are in some other mechanical / electrical field that are looking to make a change
This job involves working in Boiler Rooms that can be hazardous, Dirty, Smelly and are populated by various types of pests. ( we always clean them up but when we get a new customer sometimes things are Nasty) Boiler rooms sometimes also contain asbestos so you need to be aware and careful and safe. you will never be asked to work with asbestos - just be safe around it.
This job ( especially at the entry level ) involves getting dirty if you are not careful, you can come home covered in soot and smelling like Oil
This job requires that you be available for 24/7 emergency service. That means IF YOU ARE ON CALL and a customer has no heat at 3:00 AM, or in the middle of the super bowl, or just before a big date, you have to get your work pants on and go fix it there are no exceptions to this requirement
If you are always late, Hate driving in the city, will not go up ladders, use illegal Drugs OR Drink allot please save us both some time and do not apply
If you are applying for this position from anywhere outside the 5 boroughs of NYC keep in mind that there can be some serious culture shock that you will have to deal with. Parking tickets, alternate side of the street parking, security of vehicles, the subway , having to park 3 blocks from where you are working and carry your tools the whole way and then have to go back and feed the parking meter. Also consider the amount of geography between you and most of the work. If you live on long Island is it worth 2 hours of travel time and 10 gallons of gas for you to get to work in the Bronx.
