Title: Level 2 Inspector 2009
Reports to: Project Manager
Pay Range: $60,000 - $65,000 Commensurate with experience
Summary: This requires a fully competent engineer who will work with the project team on the Structural Upgrades to the Bronx Whitestone Bridge. Tasks will include the inspection of the bridge and the tower structures. Responsibilities include monitoring the contractor's activities to ensure they are being executed according to the contract plans, specs, shop drawings, etc., monitoring operations such as installation of steel plates, diaphragms, angles, beams etc. using bolted connections. There will be very little welding. The inspector must know how to interpret engineering drawings of a structural nature. A report must be generated at the end of each work day. All testing will be done by an outside lab. There will be some fencing installation with concrete footings, and minor painting.
• Must be physically fit and be able to work in high areas such as the main cables and suspender ropes, and inside confined spaces such as the bridge towers and anchorages.
• Must have no fear of heights, 80-90 feet above water
• Must have bridge experience
Short term contract position. Work is scheduled to end March 2010.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Engineering or Level 2 NICET certification required
• Must have bridge experience
• Desire to work hard in difficult environment.
