Fanzine (http://www.thefanzine.com), a relatively new premier online culture magazine, is entering a new phase of development. We will be launching a fresh redesign of the site this month, which will allow for underwriting ads, and we will be looking to find sponsorship and grants to fund production. If you are in school and need an internship in this area, or are fresh out of school and want to bust your chops working for an online magazine that promotes and respects literary journalism, here is your chance. Consider it an internship, but if you can find underwriters and help move us into a 501c3 position (that's the first order of business...dealing with the Feds and Albany...a knowledge of the ins and out of that kind of government paperwork and not for profit accounting is a must). Also candidates must need to be able to sell ad space (compensated for this on commission). As a bonus, if you have the knack we can advise and help you get writing published on the site, starting with events listings, and maybe building up to features. We are relatively new but as you can see from our contributors' list and people we have interviewed that we have high standards. We need help in the business sides of things to keep us economically viable. In this ever challenging times for media of all kinds, it takes a real gift to keep a publication one loves afloat and retain its original mission with integrity without resorting to facile paparazzi style sloppy bloggishness or gossip proliferation and the likes. Fanzine will fold before it does so, but we have a lot of faith and confidence in the quality and interest in the work we are publishing now. If you think you could be of service as an intern (one who will again be compensated justly if they can prove to bring in money) then please contact us about a summer position. We will be considering people immediately.

Sincerely,
Casey McKinney
Founding Editor

PS- We are located in Williamsburg, convenient to the Bedford L. Will initially compensate lunch and transportation and extras based on ability. Knowledge of an assortment of computer programs (Mac please) a must. NYU, CUNY, Columbia, Zicklin (yeah we need a business person) etc students and grads please take note.

Also, people looking to donate or who can advise us in this transition, or would like to buy advertising - i.e. underwriting - space (yes you can do that in a non-profit...just look at NPR) please write too.
