The Faster Times (www.thefastertimes.com), a new and rapidly growing
online newspaper, is seeking a technology intern to help manage the
technology aspects of the site. This is an excellent opportunity to
gain real world experience and have responsibility and input in the
technology decisions of a fast growing website.
Tasks and responsibilities include:
- Fixing small bugs and add new features to the site
- Overseeing the work of offshore developers (manage the team, manage
timelines, ensure the quality of the work is high)
- Troubleshoot server related issues and help with emergencies
- Provide advice and feedback to the management team
- Conduct research on new technologies and solutions
Skills and Experience:
- Must be comfortable with Linux OS and Linux command line
- Intermediate server admin skills (troubleshooting issues, checking
available disk space and server load, installing/configuring
applications, etc.)
- Intermediate php, javascript, html, xhtml, and css skills
- Intermediate MySQL skills and experience and the ability to write sql queries
- Project management experience would be a bonus, but is not required
Small quarterly stipend.
