We are looking for one person to sublet a room in a two-bedroom loft apartment. The space is big -- about 1100 square feet -- with brick walls, 14ft ceilings, a 12ft-by12ft window and even a POOL TABLE. There is a second floor suspended from the ceiling by steel cables attached to brackets designed and welded in the apartment. The second floor is where your small bedroom is located with three 12-pane windows facing the common space and glass doors for plenty of light.
You will need a bed and bedroom furniture but all else is provided – there’s kitchen stuff, couches (yes, two), a large light table (perhaps you can find a use?), a truly bangin’ stereo and a full-size pool table (middling condition). There is also some cool stuff scattered around to spice up the environment, including lots of furniture salvaged from abandoned buildings – even a 3ft wide fan mounted to the wall to keep you cool in the summer months (it’s very, very powerful).
The building is in Bushwick off the Halsey L TRAIN stop, a reliable 30 minutes to Union Square. It is a fun building with lots of young artist types who are happy to befriend you in their long idle hours. Laundry is just down the hallway. Also, there are NO cockroaches and NO mice (seriously! Be careful with other places – this is NYC after all…).
You can be male or female, but should be easy going, happy, not a TV-person, clean but not a freak about it, responsible, and able to pay rent on time every month. Artistic ability and skill in building things are a definite plus. No rabid carnivores, please (normal carnivores are okay). Your roommates are a savvy couple from down South. One is a student at FIT and the other works in a health-food store.
Rent is $875 – first, last and security required to move in. Your first month rent is prorated for the day you get keys, which should be SOON. You will not sign a lease and can leave anytime! (with notice, obviously). Utilities not included— wireless Internet is plugged in and ready to go.
