Kristin Hanson Studio is a unique fine jewelry school, focused on contemporary design using classical techniques and materials. Students learn to design and fabricate jewelry by hand in silver, gold, wax, stones, and other organic and nonorganic materials. We work with each student individually to create a curriculum and schedule that is convenient to their level of skill. The studio is equipped with 8 benches and all the necessary tools and equipment. Metal, stones, and other material must be purchased.
Kristin Hanson will be demonstrating specific fine jewelry techniques at scheduled times during each week. Individual meetings will also be scheduled with each student weekly to ensure goals are met. Studio assistance and interns are always present to give students all the individual attention they need to develop.
Beginners in the studio will have the opportunity to learn a range of techniques by working along side jewelers of all levels. They will be designing and creating jewelry that incorporate multiple techniques and materials to maximize class time and accelerate the learning process. Intermediate and advanced students will learn collection development, advanced jewelry design and fabrication, manufacturing, sales, marketing, photography, pricing, custom order, and client services in addition to creating jewelry. If desired we will provide information needed to start in the jewelry business or get a job in the jewelry industry. Internships are available to students who complete the 120 and 240 hour courses.
The studio is located in a beautiful luxury loft space in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. Just a two minute walk from subways B, Q, 2, 3, Atlantic center, Prospect Park, Brooklyn Museum, and Botanical Gardens. Events and jewelry parties take place often in the studio showroom to give students the opportunity to show and sell their jewelry.
