Would you meet for a cup of coffee to talk about CREATIVITY and BEAUTY?

I am a graduate student in psychology (and a musician and a writer myself) and am doing my thesis/capstone project on the subjects of creativity and beauty.

I am seeking creative types from all fields, including visual artists, musicians, writers, poets, designers, and ideators to interview on these subjects.

My goal, through these interviews, is to gain a deeper insight into the mysterious and elusive creative process, as seen through the eyes of artists. I am looking to get inside the heads of creators to see what motivates and inspires them and how the consciousness of each artist is expressed in their creativity. I also will be exploring the relationship of artists to beauty in these interviews.

I'd love to ask you some questions about your creative process and how you take in the world through your senses.

The Interview: 45 minutes in a cafe of your choice. I can come to your neighborhood.

Compensation: A chance to talk about creativity and beauty for a while. All caffeinated and non-caffeinated drinks on me. Also, I will be happy to forward to you the findings from my interviews when I have completed the project. It hopefully will be the springboard for a bigger project I have in mind.

Hello.
I have a roughly 3ft by 4ft canvas that I REALLY REALLY want to get rid of.
I painted the entire canvas a cerulean blue hue in acrylic paint to cover the orginal painting that was someone's else idea for a project that fell apart.

I am willing to do a personal painting on the canvas for cheap,but I would like to get at least half of the money upfront so I will not get stuck with the canvas again.Also who ever is interested in the painting will either pick it up or pay for the shipping costs,which are not cheap.

Artist needed to color graphic memoir (on computer)

I am working on a graphic memoir which is coming out in spring 2009 with one of the top US publishers. It will be released in hardcover first, then paperback. I am looking to hire a talented artist with a keen eye for color to provide the color for my book on the computer. The book runs 253 pages and is due in August 2008. I am just at the drawing stage now, so I will submit drawings to you piecemeal over the next few months. But due to the tight deadline, you will have to work fast.
Note: This project requires an extensive knowledge of Illustrator and/or Photoshop, because I may want the drawings to involve shading, depth, etc.--not just flat comic-book colors. But I'd need to see a visual of your style to get a sense of what will work best. And of course, I will send you a jpeg of my drawing style, as well.
I will pay for the overall project as opposed to doing a per page rate. I can't pay an astronomical sum, so perhaps this work will be done by a student, but your work will have high visibility in the top bookstores in the US and abroad. In addition, if things go well, I will recommend you to other artists and help you break into the publishing industry if that is your wish (I am a successful, published magazine writer. This is my first book). If you are interested in taking this job, I will need to see samples of your work. We can talk, first, about the kind of color I am interested in--but I also value your input, since this is not my forte.

I am looking for someone with a good eye to help me download images from the Internet so I can draw from these photographs, and create more realistic backgrounds and figures than I might be able to from my imagination alone. In addition, I would like to work with someone who has a firm grasp of Photoshop (I have none) so they can advise me about when to use it and assist me in doing so. My book is due in August 2008--and I'll be spending the summer at a writer's colony--so I need to find someone who is able to start immediately.

1. A visit to our space by a responsible liaison in advance of productions.
We require that you take photos and measurements in advance of set design work.

2. We require mutual respect between the studio and your project
and among your team; respect for our studio neighbors
and the building facilities and occupants.
If your art project involves simulated abusive behavior
we expect to be informed in advance.

3. One responsible trained liaison from your crew to our staff.
If you want us to provide coordination or consultation
among members of your cast or production team a fee will apply.

4. Payment in advance. No exceptions.
There is a non-refundable deposit required to book the studio.
Rescheduled dates will require an additional deposit.

6. We need to be informed of any
potential serious health problems.
If there is a heart patient or epileptic in a large cast or crew,
one member of your team must be trained in
CPR and/or seizure management

7. Work safely.
Keep your work area and hallways clear of debris.
Stunt work and use of suspended cables
requires a trained stunt coordinator and safety gear.

8. Student productions required to meet with staff in advance.
At least three key members of a large student film crew
must have professional work experience and be prepared to orient
cast and crew to professional standards.

9. D O K Studio is not responsible for injury
to people working onsite or damage to equipment.
If your equipment is insured, please provide proof of insurance.

10. You are responsible to pay for and/or repair any damage
to walls, floors, roof, onsite equipment and furniture

I am a keyboard player, composer, and occasional poet who is into free improvisation, abstract, atonal music, "avant-garde," etc.

I've been writing songs most of the time but I'm sort of going in a different direction these days, so I don't have much to show you. What I've been doing lately is improvising into a looping pedal and reciting my poetry over that. I would like to add other elements and collaborate with other musicians, as well as writers, creative dancers, performance artists, etc. Especially looking for percussionists.

I am not trying to "start a band" or anything like that, and I am NOT just looking for people to perform my art. What I have in mind is more of a collaborative, interdisciplinary project that can include anyone's art. Oh and I have a rehearsal space.

I had a fabulous best of the year concert which involved me swinging atop a red velvet seat in a golden birdcage suspended from the ceiling, having a surprise collaborator arrive via satellight, and a choreographed dance number with matching stewardess costumes. I want to continue to expand the potential for performance by starting a band that continues creating videos, cartoons, interdisciplinary performance, and sound experiences. Potential band mates could come from a wide variety of backgrounds including programmers, illustrationists, cartooners, toy and electronic hackers, inventors, mixers, orchestrators, film makers, designers, and creative sound minded jammers and audio engineers.
