In this introductory class for Final Cut Pro, students will learn all the essentials necessary to enable them to begin editing their own work and further explore the world of digital video editing.
A full introduction to the FCP interface and basic tool kit will be followed by lessons in logging and capturing, basic media management and workflow, three point editing, importing audio files, basic transitions, and finally video filters. Students will learn how to take a project from start to finish in this class, from basic cuts all the way to color correction and audio tweaking. Students are STRONGLY encouraged to bring their own video footage to edit with on Mini-DV tape, but the instructor will provide raw material for those who need it.
The class will include a 4-day shop pass for use in our facilities outside of class time during the course of the workshop. In order to finish your piece by the last day of class, you are encouraged to use your shop pass.The acquisition of materials and consumables (grinding disks, drill bits, etc.) are the responsibility of the students. Costs for materials will vary for each student depending on the needs of their individual project. Information about where to find scrap metal or how to order new metal will be provided during the first class.
